Required Business and Remote Pilot Documents

Overview of The Documents You Need To Carry With You While Flying And Ones You Can Leave At Your Place Of Business

Maintaining and ensuring the availability of these documents is essential for compliance with regulatory requirements. Regularly review and update your records to align with both FAA and state-specific guidelines.


Business Documents

All business and pilot-related documents must be maintained at your principal place of business. These documents must be readily available for inspection upon request. In addition to your operating certificate, ensure you have the following:

  1. 44807 Exemption (Reference: 14 CFR § 91.203)

  2. Certificates of Waiver or Authorization

  3. Operating Documents (as referenced in your 44807 Exemption):

    • Manufacturer's Flight Manual

    • Operations Handbook and Checklists

    • Maintenance Handbook and Inspection Programs

    • Training Program

  4. Aircraft Documents:

    • Registration Certificates (Reference: 14 CFR § 91.203)

    • Aircraft Logbooks (see maintenance records)

  5. Records:

    • Application Records (Last 12 months – Reference: 14 CFR § 137.71)

    • Maintenance Records (Last 12 months – Reference: 14 CFR § 91.417)


State and Federal Requirements

Be sure to check your state agricultural aviation inspection requirements for required documentation – maintenance of records (application, pilot, aircraft, etc.) may be longer than required by the FAA


Remote Pilot Documents

When conducting agricultural aviation operations, the following documents must be kept with the Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) and made available upon request:

  1. Government-Issued ID (Reference: 14 CFR § 61.3)

  2. Remote Pilot Certificate (Reference: 14 CFR § 107.7)

  3. Medical Certificate (Reference: 14 CFR § 61.3)

  4. 44807 Exemption (Digital copy accepted – Reference: 14 CFR § 61.3, 44807 Exemption)

  5. ATO-Issued Certificate of Authorization (COA) (Digital copy accepted – Reference: 44807 Exemption)

  6. Part 137 Certificate (Digital copy accepted – Reference: 14 CFR § 137.33)

  7. Aircraft Registration (Copy only accepted – Reference: 14 CFR § 47.31, 14 CFR § 91.203)

  8. Operational and Training Documents (Digital copies accepted – Reference your 44807 Exemption):

    • Operations Handbook

    • Checklists

    • Training Program

    • Manufacturer's Flight Manual
