There may be small details in between these steps, so make sure to follow the instructions carefully.
Setting Up Your RC
Note: Ensure your RC is fully charged before performing updates or keep it plugged in during the process.
Turn on the RC by pressing and holding the power button icon.
Select Next and then choose English as your language and hit Start.
Agree to the permission statement by selecting Agree.
Agree to the "Guidelines for Personal Information Protection" by selecting Agree.
Swipe down from the middle top of the screen, hold on the Wi-Fi icon, and turn
on Wi-Fi. Log into your desired Wi-Fi network.
Once connected, back out to the login page.
Enter your credentials, ensuring that when selecting United States, the country code is +1 and the "U" in "United States" is capitalized (case sensitive).
The screen will display "Set device information"; select Confirm to link the RC to your account.
If prompted, an update notification will appear ("New version available"). Select Update Now to proceed with system updates. You will need to update one at a time.
If you want to manually check for updates later, go to your profile icon at the top right corner, select Settings, scroll down to Software Updates, and tap Install Now if an update is available.
Important Note: Make sure the RC is charged or charging during updates. If it powers off during the process, wait 5 minutes and turn it back on.
Once all updates are completed, you should see "All latest firmware installed."
Adding Drone to Your XAG Account
Important Note: If you encounter a Chinese Google Maps image with an error message "You are not allowed to use this device in the current area," take the RC outside to get a GPS signal. The Google Map will refresh to your location, showing a blue dot.
Power on the drone and connect it to the RC.
To connect, select the profile icon, go to Devices, and click the + icon in the top right. The QR code scanner will appear. Scan the QR code located on the left side of the drone.
If the scanner doesn’t work, you can manually enter the serial number or select the three dots at the top right corner and choose Add a Device via Bluetooth (only works if the drone is powered on).
Once the drone is selected, click Add and then Confirm.
You will be prompted to fill out information on how you will use the drone. If you prefer to skip this, press the back arrow twice, and the drone should still appear under your devices.
Binding RC to the Drone
Go to the profile icon, select Device, and click on the drone.
Under the General tab, select Remote Controller Bound.
Choose the remote controller and select Bind.
Note: If binding fails, turn off both the RC and drone and wait 5 minutes. It’s recommended to remove the drone battery completely. When you turn the drone back on, you’ll hear seven long beeps, indicating a full reset.
Connecting the Drone to the RC’s Wi-Fi
Go to the profile icon and select Device.
Click on the drone, then under the Communication System tab (antenna icon), scroll down to the bottom and select Internet Access.
Choose Connect via central device's network only.
Note: If you don’t see the Internet Access section, turn off the RC and drone, wait 5 minutes, and remove the drone battery. After resetting, ensure the connection is still set to Connect via central device's network only.
Updating Drone Firmware
Downloading Firmware to the RC
Go to the profile icon, select Device, and click on the drone icon.
Under the General tab, click Firmware Update and tap the gear icon in the top right.
Tap Firmware Update, then select Via Local Firmware.
Once back in the main menu, tap the new folder icon and select Download Firmware to begin the update.
Note: Even if it says, "You are up to date," there may still be additional updates to complete.
Transferring Firmware to the Drone
Once you’re in the Firmware Update menu, click the desired update and tap Download and Update. Repeat this for each available update.
Setting Up Operation Device
Select the profile icon at the top right, then go to Devices.
Click the Setup operation device option and press the + icon.
Select Done in the top right corner once the setup is complete.
Setting Up Remote ID (RID)
Go to the Drone Settings and navigate to the General tab.
Scroll down and select About.
Tap on Remote ID.
Under UAS ID, enter the Remote ID. This will start with 1863, followed by drone-specific characters.
The Remote ID can be found on the side of the drone’s frame or on the previous page in the settings.
Under Operator ID, enter your name.
The Emergency Status field is optional; you do not need to enter any information here.
Once all the necessary information is entered, select SAVE at the bottom of the screen.
